My Game Development History

Where did it begin?

Believe it or not, I began to take an interest in game development due to a cancelled console game called Disney Infinity. In the game, there were these tools that were called “creativi-toys,” or something similar. This did not involve code at all, but it taught me the extremely basic logic/concept of all programming languages. From then, a past friend had introduced me to a website called Scratch. Scratch allowed me to get a bit of a better idea of what code structure can be like while still keeping all the complicated factors away from my learning experience for the time being. After that, I would attempt to program games for my friends in Roblox, which uses a modified version of Lua. Lua is a very similar language to Python, and gave me my first taste of what real programming is like.

A few years later, I eventually moved onto Unity, which uses C# and is considered a real and professional game engine. I obviously was not very good at it at first, but I kept learning and now I am very aware of how to use it and what it’s capabilities and weaknesses are. I even got certified in it in high school thanks to a very helpful teacher of mine, passing the test with 98%. Currently, I’m practicing my skills by creating my own games online. Obviously this is not earning me much money, the most I’ve made in 7$ (which got reduced to roughly 4$ due to the site I posted it on), however this is earning me more experience and credibility for if I am to be hired for this in the future.
